On November 4th 2024, Joshua Papigatuk was shot dead by Nunavik police. A few days later, the federal minister for Crown-indigenous said in a statement:

This tragedy underscores the deeply rooted systemic racism within our criminal justice system, which continues to disproportionately impact Indigenous Peoples,” Anandasangaree said. Real, structural change is essential to address these injustices.

Yet again a few months later, another homicide. On May 6th 2025, Mark Randy Annanack was shot dead by police who failed to deescalade a situation and rescue a man they had to serve and protect. Yet again, on July 17th 2025, another inuk man was shot and killed by police.

Postcolonial justice in Nunavik is a dark stain in Quebec's history. Take a stand with us as we demand and advocate for real & immediate change.

We need your support.
